The International Colloquium The Critical Theory of Axel Honneth: Reconstruction, Capitalism, and Pathologies has as main objective to promote a space of discussion involving different perspectives on the critical theory of Axel Honneth. Although the theory of recognition of this author has found in Brazil a multiplicity of uses for the analysis of several social phenomena, the colloquium intends to reflect on the various dimensions and implications of his thought, covering topics such as his philosophy of history, his conception of social conflicts, as well as his understanding of capitalist society, the idea of freedom, and more recently his understanding of socialism in the present time.
The colloquium will be attended by Christopher Zurn (University of Massachusetts), Jean-Philippe Deranty (Macquarie University), Luiz Sérgio Repa (USP/CEBRAP), Nathalie Bressiani (UFABC/CEBRAP), Mariana Teixeira (CEBRAP), Ricardo Crissiuma (UFRGS), Felipe Gonçalves Silva (UFRGS), Rúrion Soares Melo (USP/CEBRAP), Ingrid Cyfer (UNIFESP), and Alessandro Pinzani (UFSC).
English is the official language of the colloquium (main conferences).
The main conferences, which will take place in the afternoon, will be translated and projected.
